SearchBABA (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates searchbaba.com, a directory service that connects users with manufacturers of products compliant with the Build America, Buy America (BABA) Act. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information.

2. Information We Collect

Launch Notification Subscribers

When you sign up for launch notifications, we collect your name, email address, and occupation/role.

Manufacturer Accounts

When you create a manufacturer account, we collect your first name, last name, title, email address, password (stored securely via hashing), company name, website, company description, industry selections, BABA compliance scope, subscription tier selection, and product category selections.

Uploaded Documents

Manufacturers may upload BABA compliance letters (PDF or image files). These documents are stored securely and used solely for the purpose of verifying BABA compliance status.

Automatically Collected Information

We use essential session cookies provided by our authentication provider (Supabase) to maintain your login session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies, analytics pixels, or advertising trackers.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Launch notifications: To send you updates about the SearchBABA launch and related announcements.
  • Directory listings: To display manufacturer information (company name, description, website, product categories, and BABA compliance status) publicly in search results. This is the core function of our service.
  • Verification: To review uploaded BABA compliance documents and verify manufacturer claims.
  • Account management: To authenticate users, manage subscriptions, and provide customer support.
  • Service improvement: To improve and maintain the functionality of our platform.

4. Public Display of Manufacturer Data

By creating a manufacturer account, you acknowledge and consent to the public display of the following information in SearchBABA search results: company name, company description, website URL, product categories, BABA compliance scope and status, rep finder URL, and representative contact information you provide.

Your personal account information (first name, last name, personal email, password) is never displayed publicly.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share data with:

  • Service providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and Cloudflare (DNS and security) to operate our platform.
  • Payment processors: When payment functionality is available, we will use Stripe to process payments. We do not store credit card information on our servers.
  • Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information:

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption)
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt via Supabase Auth)
  • Database access is controlled through row-level security policies
  • Administrative access is restricted to authorized personnel

7. Data Retention

  • Subscriber emails: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
  • Manufacturer accounts: Retained while your account is active. Upon account termination, data is deleted within 30 days.
  • Uploaded documents: Retained while your manufacturer account is active and deleted within 30 days of account termination.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.

9. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. No cookie consent banner is required because we only use strictly necessary cookies.

SearchBABA is a business-to-business service and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Your continued use of SearchBABA after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
